Washington DC, parts of New England, the Mid Atlantic states and Southern Florida will be largely underwater, in addition to areas on the West Coast, such as Portland. SOUTHWEST: Water supplies are becoming scarce and it is predicted that there will be a permanent drought in the Southwest, rendering the area uninhabitable and eliminating most agriculture. As the Colorado River recedes, there will be increasing drought in Southern California, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico. Other states currently suffering the worst drought in years are Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Southern Arizona and Northwest, West, and Southern Texas. FAULT LINES: The entire west coast is especially vulnerable to earthquakes, as are many other parts of the United States. NORTHWEST: Declining snowfall is reducing water supplies, while sea level rises will result in increased loss of land. Salmon and other cold water species will experience stress from rising temperatures and declining summer streams. Agriculture is already under pressure from reduced water availability. NORTHEAST: Severe flooding due to sea level rises and heavy downpours is likely to occur more frequently.
